PHOENIX, Ariz. - Heading back to the field quicker than usual due to last weekend's delay, the Warriors were wheels up to Arizona to take on the Firestorm in a four-game series. The series opener would be extended in game one where the Firestorm prevailed in the bottom of the 11th and game two would exchange leads again before the home team finished on top for the 2-0 series start.
The scheduled 9-inning game would start strong for the Warriors with a third-inning surge led by
Jordan Williams who went 4-for-4 on the day and the first of two home runs for
Anders Green for the 4-0 advantage.
A pair of runs would answer back for ACU, but the Warriors would add one more in the fourth with a solo shot from
Josh Duitsman.
The home team would rally back for the lead in the sixth, 8-4, nevertheless, the Warriors would battle in the following frame to tie it up compliments of Green with a 3RBI home run.
Each team would answer each other's posted run through the 11th inning until the Firestorm had the final say with the walk-off run crossing the plate and the 10-9 victory.
The battle in the box would continue as Jessup would once again take the lead early on, but the Firestorm wouldn't back down taking the 7-3 lead headed to the top of the fifth.
The Warriors would push four runs across in the top of the frame to tie it up,
Grant St. Martin bringing in the first run and then Duitsman clinching his second home run of the day with a 3RBI bomb.
A two-RBI single by the Firestorm in the following frame would give them the lead and hand starting pitcher
Ashkhon Kuhaulua (4-1) his first loss of the season throwing a complete game with four strikeouts.
Two more games will be played tomorrow between the Warriors and Firestorm starting at 11 am.
