PHOENIX, Ariz. - Jessup baseball closed the series on Saturday afternoon taking game one over the Firestorm of Arizona Christian, but a late comeback in the final game of the series for the home team would award them the series 3-1.
A total 16 hits for the Warriors in game one would rally for five of the nine innings seeing a run from the dominant offense. The scoring would hit the board in the second inning as
Grant St. Martin knocked one out of the park and leading the Warriors in the box,
Jordan Yu had his first of four hits starting things off with an RBI double.
Arizona would take the lead in the bottom of the frame, but another three runs would find the board for the Warriors in the third and fifth to regain the lead, 8-2. Another five runs would cross for the Warriors combined 13 runs, but the Firestorm would combine for seven runs in the final four innings to attempt a comeback rally.
Yu would lead the Warriors going 4-for-5 with 6 RBIs, including two doubles.
Anders Green would also knock a pair of doubles in while St. Martin and
Austen Swift both hit home runs.
Micah Gunter would pitch a solid 6.2 innings for Jessup collecting his 3rd win of the season.
The Warriors would lead in the final game of the series through the fourth inning, 6-2. But the final three innings for the Firestorm would total their 13 runs, the Warriors only able to break one more through in the top of the seventh, losing 13-7 in game four.
Jessup will return home to take Benedictine University of Mesa on Tuesday at 3pm, followed by conference play against OUAZ Friday and Saturday with the 2018 GSAC Championship banner reveal ceremony taking place on Saturday prior to first pitch at 10:45 am.
