PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Jessup women's tennis team continued their conference matchups this past weekend traveling to Arizona to face top competition in Arizona Christian and OUAZ on Friday and Saturday.
The Warriors would first take on the nationally recognized Firestorm, where the home court prevailed in a 9-0 victory. Leading the doubles was
Yvette Perez and
Allie Rocha on court three who lost 8-2, while
McKenzie Hawkins and
Abriana Rowe were able to take one from ACU's number one pairing (8-1).
In single matchups, Hawkins on court one, Rowe on court two and
Melisa Hansen on court four all took one set from their competition in the two matches to 6. Perez was able to grab one more scoring, 6-2, Rocha lost on court six unable to snag a game, 6-0, 6-0.
The Warriors would the head over to Ottawa University - AZ where the Spirit would defeat the Warriors 9-0.
Again, court three would lead the Warriors in double with Rocha and Perez scoring, 8-3,
Stephanie Alsman and Hansen would go 8-1 on court two and on court one, Hawkins and Rowe were unable to steal a game.
Alsman led the single's matchup 6-1 and 6-4 on court three, while Hansen (6-3, 6-0), Rowe (6-1, 6-2), Hawkins (6-0, 6-2) and Pere (6-1, 6-1) followed.
The Warriors will return home this week taking on Westmont College on Friday and Marymount College on Saturday, both at LifeTime Fitness in Roseville.
