SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Jessup returned to the field Saturday afternoon after a postponed doubleheader against San Diego Christian on Friday, splitting with the Hawks losing game one in the final inning, but coming back strong in game two with an 11-run defeat.
The Warriors would hit the board first against the Hawks in the opening game of the series, but they wouldn't be the ones to hit it last as their only three-hit outing wasn't enough in the bottom of the ninth.
Kawaiola Takemura and
Grant St. Martin both doubled for the Warriors, Takemura bringing in the first run of the game in the top of the third. San Diego Christian would match the run in the bottom of the inning before the Warrior went up 3-1 in the 8th,
Noah Shackles bringing in a run, off a sacrifice fly and capitalizing on a Hawks error.
But the home team would have the final say in the last-chance inning bringing in the game-winning run on a single to center fielder for the 4-3 advantage.
Not wasting any time, Jessup bounced back in game two with a run in the first inning, a combined six in the second and third and 6 more in the fourth inning. In the bottom of the frame, the Hawks would respond pushing two of their own runs across, but Takemura would seal the win with the Warriors final run in the top of the fifth for the 14-2 lead and later win over the Hawks.
Jessup will finish the series tomorrow against San Diego Christian with a doubleheader starting at 11 am.
