Women's Tennis Wins First Doubles Match Against the Royals

ROSEVILLE, Calif. - With rain rolling in and out, the Warriors were able to get both matchups in this past weekend against No.16 San Diego Christian and the visiting Hope International Royals on Saturday.

Against the Hawks, the Warriors would play back-to-back games due to the rainout in Southern California on their original competition date. The single game that the Warriors won in game one was the win by default in doubles, in singles, court two Abriana Rowe would battle 6-2, 6-4. The only other player to win a game was McKenzie Hawkins who took a single game in each game against the nationally ranked Hawks' number one.

In match two, the only point for the Warriors would come again from the default win due to lack of numbers from the visiting team, Jessup dropping 5-1 with doubles not played.

On Saturday the Warrior welcomed their final weekend opponent, Hope International University. Hope would prevail 6-3 but not before the Warriors nabbed the program's first doubles win as Rowe and Stephanie Alsman defeated the Royals 8-1.

In the individual matchups, Rowe would continue to lead the Warriors taking it to a deciding set on court two but fell 6-1 in the final game. Melisa Hansen would also push the Royals number five player to the third game, winning the first game 6-4, while falling to the same score in game two and losing 6-2 in the deciding game.

The Warriors will hit the road next week for a make-up match against Marymount on Friday at 11 am before they gear up for the conference tournament on April 16-19.
