HAYWARD, Calif. - After a strong defensive first half, the Jessup men's soccer team lost 3-0 on the road against Holy Names Saturday morning.
The Warriors held the Hawks scoreless in the first half but allowed two quick goals in the 59th and 61st minute that proved to be the difference.
Head coach Greg Lazaga said, "Holy names pushed their style on us and we did not respond with decision making on the field based on our core principles of play."
The first half was a strong defensive battle as both teams combined for just eight shots. However, the Hawks turned up their defensive pressure in the second half as they had 14 shots alone and found the net three times.
Warriors' goalkeeper Robert Sams got his second start of the year and had season-high eight saves.
Lazaga also said, "Our new group is talented, so we will look to make the appropriate adjustments."
After back-to-back NCAA Division-II road matches, the Warriors will look to enjoy some home cooking against two NAIA opponents next week as they host UC Merced on Tuesday at 3pm, and then Simpson Thursday at 3 p.m.
