Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Quinton Lilley

Warriors' 2nd half defense plays well

ROCKLIN, Calif. - The Jessup women's soccer team played a strong defensive second half holding Academy of Art scoreless in the final 45 minutes, but a nine-minute segment in the first half proved to be the difference Wednesday afternoon as the Warriors lost 2-0.

To open the match both teams came out with a strong defensive front as neither team employed a consistent attack in the first 15 minutes. However, after a foul on Jessup (2-4), Academy of Art (4-1-1) took advantage and scored the match's first goal in the 21st minute.

After a few minutes the Warriors offensive attack was slowed down and Academy of Art scored again in the 29th minute taking a 2-0 lead.

From there, the Urban Knights attempted to control most of the action on Jessup's side of the field limiting the home team to just one shot in the final 15 minutes of the first half.

In the second half, a similar trend continued as the Warriors were held to one shot, while Academy of Art had 11.

Warriors' goalkeeper Camille Cavey had another strong day with eight saves playing all 90 minutes.

Jessup will go back on the road at Humboldt State on Saturday at 3 p.m. when they face their second-consecutive NCAA Division-II opponent.
