Warriors go down in three sets to ACU

The Warriors lost in three sets to Arizona Christian University Saturday afternoon despite putting up a strong fight.

ROCKLIN, Calif— The William Jessup volleyball played their second game of a back-to-back homestand and lost in straight-sets to Arizona Christian 23-25, 23-25, & 17-25. 
 
The Warriors came out hot in the opening set with Jessica Williams at the service line helping her squad take an early 4-0 lead. As the set continued, the Firestorm would go on a 4-0 run themselves as they took the lead, 7-6. 

From that point on it was an all-out battle as the teams tied 11 times. Ultimately, after the Warriors were able to tie the game 23-23, they were unable to close it out losing 23-25. 
 
In set two, the Warriors found themselves down 6-3 early. After scoring five consecutive points capped off with back-to-back kills from Ashanti Grayer, the Warriors regained the lead at 8-6. Similar to the opening set, the second frame saw ten ties throughout its duration. The Warriors went go on to score four unanswered points bringing the set within one but went on to lose 23-25. 
 
The third and final set was a tough one for the Warriors as they fell behind after surrendering the opening five points. The Warriors would continue to press on and fight throughout the set, but the early deficit proved to be too much to overcome as they lost 17-25. 

Ashanti Grayer led the Warriors offense with 10 kills while Brianne Whitt had a team-high 15 assists. Kacey Berger had another strong outing with 19 digs and 2 aces from the service line. 

Next up  is a pair of road games in southern California that will start off with The Master's on October 4th followed by a game with Westmont on October 5th.
