Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Chris Engelage

Federico Nets Two Goals as Warriors Top the Owls 4-0

Edwards finishes with six saves in net as Jessup produce their first clean sheet of the season

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. - Jessup men's soccer was able to claim their second consecutive win as they dominated for a full 90-minutes en route to a 4-0 victory over the Oregon Tech Owls. It was a rematch Saturday, as these two teams played in Klamath Falls earlier this month, but this time around, Jessup got revenge as their record now reads 2-2.

Head coach Greg Lazaga was pleased to see his team get off to a strong start as well as staying the course for a full 90-minutes. "The last three games, we have walked away down on the board in the first ten minutes. So, it was brilliant to not only get out of the first part of the game but come out with a clean sheet."

There were no goals scored through the first twenty minutes, but there was a total of five shots as the goalies were on high-alert. Tanner Federico netted his first goal in the twenty-second minute, and he kept the pedal to the metal as he scored again three minutes later. The sudden flash from Federico had the Warriors leading at the half, 2-0.

Jessup wasted no time in the second half as Jose Ayala put the Warriors up 3-0 in the forty-ninth minute. While the defense continued to make life hard for the Owls, a quick change of possession led to Federico connecting with Josh Freeman for another goal. At the final horn, the Warriors shutout the Owls, winning 4-0.

Lazaga made sure to give props to his defenders and goalkeeper Connor Edwards who ended the day with six saves and no goals allowed. "The backline and our freshman goalkeeper Connor were excellent out there!" Lazaga ended by saying, "Overall, it was a good showing and a positive step forward for our guys. I'm proud of them."

The Warriors will have just about two weeks without a game but will then head to Santa Clarita to play The Masters University on February 25.
