SANTA CLARITA, CALIF. – Jessup men's soccer ventured down to Santa Clarita as they kickstarted Golden State Athletic Conference play with a road match against The Master's University Mustangs. The Warriors came away victorious, winning 3-0 to give them their third consecutive win. Jessup's record now sits at 3-2 with GSAC play officially underway.

Head coach
Greg Lazaga said after the match, "I'm proud of the boys today for coming away on top of a tough GSAC opponent." He continued by praising his team by saying, "Our young group had an eagerness and a grit that was fun to coach from starters to those off the bench."

Through the opening fifteen minutes, the Mustangs controlled the majority of ball possession, but the Warrior defense was ready as they thwarted any would-be attacks. As the half went on,
Josh Freeman made an attack up the right side of the field while moving in on the keeper. Freeman was able to get in excellent position, which allowed him to connect on his second goal of the season, putting the Warriors up 1-0.

In the second half, the Warriors got right to work as they quickly added a second goal in the fiftieth minute. Freeman was fouled right outside the box, resulting in a freekick. His kick was on frame but deflected by the Mustangs' keeper. Fortunately for Jessup,
Adrian Madrigal scored off the deflected shot, and the Warriors led 2-0.

Keeping the pressure on the Mustangs,
Luis Castillo found
Paul Anderson as he scored his fourth goal of the year, and the Warriors held a 3-0 advantage in the sixty-fourth minute. As was shown in the first half, the defense was just as superb as the offense.

Goalkeeper
Robert Sams helped to lead the Warriors in their second consecutive shutout win as he logged five saves in the process.

"Robert was great in goal," added Lazaga on the work of his keeper. "He came away with a couple of critical saves when momentum could have shifted."

The Warriors continue the GSAC season next week as they will be back on the road for a match at Life Pacific University. The March 4 match can be live-streamed
