STUNT Host Cal Poly for the First Home Games in Program History

The inaugural season of Jessup STUNT continues in two weeks as the Warriors welcome a trio of teams to Warrior Arena

ROCKLIN, Calif. – History continues to be made for Jessup STUNT, as the first-year program crossed another milestone off the list with their first home games Saturday. Hosting two games against Cal Poly, the Warriors dropped both but saw noticeable improvements along the way.

Happy with the resiliency of her team, Head Coach Alexis Welch said, "This week the team had to overcome injuries, and we put girls into brand new positions. But despite the injuries, the girls came together and pushed through to hit their routines."

In the first game Saturday, the Warriors powered through their routines, taking points in three of the four quarters against the Cal Poly squad. Despite the scores, the Warriors kept their spirits up and hit on all routines.

The Mustangs took the opening quarter 3-1, followed by a 4-0 showing in the second quarter. Jessup's best scoring period came in the third when they took two points to Cal Poly's three. The Mustangs would take quarter-four 8-1, winning the game 18-4.

In quarter one of game two, Jessup did a fantastic job of sticking routine three of partner stunts. Cal Poly took the quarter 4-0. Jessup would nail the first routine of pyramids and tosses in quarter two to tie the Mustangs in that round.

Jessup performed their highest-level pyramid, routine six, for the first time on the mat and hit it with ease. Cal Poly took quarters two and three 4-1, before taking the final quarter 9-1 to win the game by a 21-3 final.

On the pyramid in game two, Welch added, "We also performed our highest-level Pyramid and Tosses routine out on the mat for the first time, which was an exciting moment for us."

The first-year program will continue its inaugural season in two weeks as the Warriors will welcome three teams to Warrior Arena. Making the trip will be Vanguard, California Baptist, and Concordia-Irvine.
