ROCKLIN, Calif. – After a great regular season that saw the Warriors reach the NAIA Top-25 Coaches Poll for a sixth consecutive season, two Warriors have been recognized at the conference level, with players being named to the All-GSAC Team.
"All conference in the GSAC is such an honor," said Head Coach
Lance Von Vogt. "It's one that is earned and not given with only 12 players across the entirety of our league that receive this distinction."
Leading the Warriors offensively this season was freshman
Myles Corey. Corey averaged 19 PPG in 14 games and also ranked 35th in the country in steals-per-game with 1.9. Corey played an average of 33 minutes per game, the most of any Jessup player.
"Myles exploded onto the scene this year and performed at a level that very few freshmen achieve," added Von Vogt on his freshman guard. "He's a dynamic scorer and a fantastic on-ball defender who plays with a competitive edge. When Myles has it going, he is a force to reckon with, and I am excited to see him grow on and off the court over the next few years."
Corey's best game this season came back in January when he scored 31 points against the College of Idaho. In conference play, Corey eclipsed 20 points twice, once against The Master's University and then again on Senior Day against Ottawa (AZ).
Also receiving All-GSAC honors is senior
Tarren Storey-Way. Storey-Way was second on the Warriors in PPG (13.3) and minutes-per-game (32). The 6-5 wing also led Jessup in rebounding with an average of 6.6 boards a game.
"Tarren has improved dramatically since last year and is the glue to our team because he does so much for us and is so versatile," Von Vogt added on the play of Storey-Way. "Beyond that, Tarren has grown as a man and a leader, which I think speaks volumes about how successful he will be in life after basketball."
Storey-Way played his best game of the season in Jessup's 86-81 victory over Ottawa (AZ), when the senior led all players with 23 points. He also scored 24 points against the College of Idaho on New Year's Day. Storey-Way had two double-doubles this season as well.
The 2020-21 season marks the first time Jessup Men's Basketball has had two players named the All-GSAC team. After starting the conference season a perfect 6-0, the Warriors finished 7-3.
Jessup's future is still to be determined, as the bracket for the 2021 NAIA National Tournament will be released Thursday at 5 p.m. (PST). The official bracket reveal can be watched online at the PlayNAIA Facebook page.
