Women's Tennis Wrap Up Regular Season at ACU

Warriors conclude the third regular season in program history; GSAC tournament begins Tuesday in San Diego

GLENDALE, Ariz. – Hitting the tennis court for the final time in the 2021 regular season, Jessup took on the Firestorm of Arizona Christian. After beginning their Arizona road trip yesterday, Jessup ends their trip and regular season at the hands of a 7-0 defeat.

Pleased with the team's effort, Head Coach Jon Toney stated after the match that Saturday's efforts were, "Overall, the best singles play team-wide this season."

Singles play began with McKenzie Hawkins in the number one position yet again. Hawkins dropped her match 6-3, 6-1. Next up was Ryanda Guerrero, who put forth a great fight in the first set before she eventually lost 7-5, 6-1. Coming off singles wins her last two times out, Juliette Caughey dropped her match 6-4, 6-2. Karen Ramos-Paglino put up a strong fight as well before falling 7-5, 6-3.

For Ramos-Paglino, the strong effort on the tennis courts is just a minor highlight for her as of late as the freshman was recently voted Jessup's new Student Body President.

Shifting back to tennis, in doubles play, Hawkins and Guerrero dropped their doubles contest 6-3. The team of Caughey and Ramos-Paglino fell in their doubles contest 6-1.

The regular season, just the second complete regular season in the program's three-year history, ends with Jessup sitting at 0-14.

Focus shifts to postseason play as the Golden State Athletic Conference tournament begins on Tuesday from the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego. It is unknown at this time who Jessup's opponent will be in the first round.
