Five Warriors Score in Double-Figures to Push the Win Streak to a Dozen

Jessup has not lost a game since November 18; The Warriors improve to 18-1 overall, 6-1 in the GSAC

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – If stacking wins is the name of the game, then the Warriors have mastered their craft. With one more date in Southern California Saturday, Jessup pieced together their twelfth win in a row, taking down The Master's University by the final of 94-77.

Saturday's victory continues what is already the greatest start to a season in program history. Overall, the Warriors sit now 18-1, posting a record in conference play of 6-1.

"Winning never comes natural," said head coach Lance Von Vogt after the game. "But there is a thing called momentum and trust and belief in what you can do and what your teammates can do and what the team can do. And we're trying to build off of that each game as building blocks to the next. This team understands that if they trust the process and they're willing to buy in and practice hard. They're humble and hungry."

All across the court, Jessup played one of their best complimentary basketball games this season, as five different Warriors totaled double-digit points. Of those five, four scored more than 15.

Leading all players in the scoring column was Myles Corey. Corey dropped 21 points while also helping to set up his teammates with 5 assists. Cashemin Williams also totaled 5 assists, pairing with a 16-point effort.

Freshman Charlie Garrison continued to provide a spark down low. Starting in his sixth consecutive game, Garrison put up a career-high 17 points to pair with 10 rebounds for his second double-double (prev. December 11 at Menlo) of the season.

The separated score came late in Saturday's matinee, as ten minutes in the two sides sat tied at 20. But the score did not stay even for long, as a 16-6 run for the Warriors saw them take their first double-digit advantage of the day. At the break, Jessup led by eight, 46-38.

Jessup stretched the lead up to 15 early in the second half on a pair of Tim Strijaous free throws. Strijaous ended the day with 17 points off the bench. Corey placed the Warriors ahead by 21 on a 3-pointer set up by a Striajous assist with 8:35 to go.

The Warriors obtained their largest lead of the night, 29 points, as Striajous knocked down a three of his own with under five minutes to play.

Tarren Storey-Way was the fifth Jessup player to score double-figures, finishing with 12 points.

Von Vogt spoke on the well-rounded scoring attack, adding, "We're fortunate to have the depth on the roster that we have, and we have guys coming off the bench that play like starters. It was great to see Tim and Tarren come in off the bench and take care of their business on the floor."

The Warriors will be back home this week, beginning the first of two-straight home games against the GSAC's two Arizona schools. OUAZ will be in Warrior Arena on Thursday, followed by Arizona Christian on Saturday.

When asked if he was ready to return home for a game, Von Vogt exclaimed, "Absolutely. It's going to be a great week against two fantastic teams next week at home, and it's going to be good to be able to play in our arena."

Jessup is currently No. 8 in the nation per the latest NAIA Coaches Poll. The Warriors could have a new number beside them by game time Thursday as the next poll is announced Wednesday morning.
