SANTA CRUZ, Calif. — The Warriors took a short hiatus from the GSAC season on Wednesday, heading to Santa Cruz for a non-conference date with UC Santa Cruz. In a low scoring battle, Jessup took the loss after a 1-0 final.
Jessup added the non-conference match to the schedule to fill the void of only having one conference match this week. Jessup takes on their travel partner Menlo College this Saturday, their only conference schedule on the docket this week.
Head coach Greg Lazaga offered his thoughts after the match, noting, "We played well, we had opportunities at goal and just need to show quality in the box. It's a frustrating loss but we need to move on and get ready for GSAC this weekend."
Jessup outshot the hosting Banana Slugs 13-12 in Wednesday's matinee, but only two of those attempts went on goal. Jordan Gallow and Isaiah Martinez recorded both shots on goal for the Warriors.
Goalkeeper Gerardo Perez Plata recorded two saves in the match, facing three shots on goal.
UCSC scored their goal in the 39th minute off the foot of Furio Jacomini. The goal was assisted by Derek Uemura.
Jessup will be back in action Saturday afternoon for a 1:30 p.m. match in Atherton against Menlo College. The Warriors return home next week for the final two home matches.
