Warriors Post Ten PRs at the Bronco Invitational

Jessup ran in a field of 17 schools, mostly from the NCAA rank; The Warriors will host the Warrior Invitational next weekend

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – The Warriors got back to work on Saturday, hitting the road for Santa Clara at the Bronco Invitational. In their final race before returning to their home course in Rocklin, the Warriors competed against a large field of schools, mostly from the NCAA ranks.

It was a 17-team field in both races Saturday. Competing schools from the NAIA included UC Merced and Menlo College. All other schools came from either the NCAA or junior college level.

"It was a great event overall," said head coach Jeff Magley. "A very competitive field in both the invitational and the open races. Huge races. I think both the men's and women's races had over 250 runners in a very completive field."

Saturday was highlighted by a spree of PRs in both the men's and women's races. All total, ten new PRs were set, one more than the Warriors had a week ago.

In the men's race, Logan Dodge led the pack of Warriors with a time of 27:18, a new PR for him in the men's 8k. Also setting new personal best times were Noah Classen (27:53), Travis Brown (28:03), Zachary Heberlein (28:10), Jonathan Conklin (28:25), and Ethan Loomis (30:21).

Others in the field for Jessup were Luciano Linares (28:19), Josh Spiva (28:52), and Xavier Morales (30:49).

In the women's 6k, leading the Warriors was once again Azalea Prince. Having another strong season after back-to-back All-GSAC seasons to start her collegiate career, Prince broke the 23 minute mark for the first time, posted a new personal best time of 22:54 on Saturday.

There were three new PRs set in the women's 6K today, coming from Elizabeth Shykowski (24:53), Lacy Ceremony (25:02), and Vivianna Gardea (26:18).

Others in the field were Haley Borjas (24:51) and Hailey Hopkins (27:08).

"Great races for us at the midway point of our season," added Magley. "We knew this was going to be a critical race for us as we move to the homestretch now with our final two whole weeks of the year."

Jessup will be back in Rocklin next weekend for the annual Warrior Invitational, set to take place on Saturday, October 22, from Jessup's on-campus cross country course.
