Gladysh Lands First Place in Jessup Invitational

Men's and women's Cross Country hosted the Jessup Invitational Saturday morning; The Warriors will look towards the Pacific Invitational next week

09/27/25

ROCKLIN, Calif. - The men's and women's cross country teams lined up on an early Saturday morning as they hosted the Jessup Invitational at the Rocklin campus of Jessup University.

In their first year as coaches here at Jessup, both Garrett Seawell and Laura Gustafson had positive things to say about their teams' performances. "Both races today went great. They ran tough on a hilly course, and some were still close to their PRs! It was great to have the whole track team out helping and cheering for everyone!"

On the women's side, Angela Gladysh placed first overall in the women's three-mile run, posting a final time of 18:43.10. Juliet David would also find herself in the top three finishers, landing in third place overall, with a final time of 19:50.50.

Other Warriors running today included Kayla Carpenter (25:56.30), Erica Waseq (37:58.40), and Jocelyn Pedretti (38:06.90).

Jessup placed second among the two teams that competed today. The visiting squad of Dominican University would find themselves winning the team event.

On the men's side, Travis Brown has the best individual time for the Warriors, placing sixth overall in the four-mile run, posting a final time of 24:31.70. Zachary Heberlein was right behind Brown, placing seventh overall with a final time of 24:47.50.

Antonio Leal (27:12.00), Logan Scammell (27:56.50), Oscar Duncan Jr. (30:42.20), and Joel Rios-Figueroa (33:00.90) also placed times for the Warrior squad.

Three teams competed in the men's competition: Dominican University, which placed first overall, Simpson University, which placed second overall in the team event, and Jessup, which placed third.

"This race is the halfway point between when they come on campus and the NCAA regional meet. We have been working hard, and I'm excited for the second half of the season and what's to come," continued Seawell.

Both the men's and women's cross-country teams will look to the Pacific Invitational in Lodi, California, on October 3rd.
