ATHERTON, Calif. – After some time off this week, the Warriors headed westbound on I-80 Saturday morning to take on Menlo College. In Jessup's lone match of the week, the Warriors got off to a hot start, but the second half went another direction as Menlo took the match 3-2.
The loss drops the Warriors to 0-3-1 within the GSAC. Sitting on just one point, Jessup is five points behind the final spot in the conference tournament.
Jessup's first goal of the day came thanks to some lucky bounces, as 22 minutes into the match
Sarah Stralen was able to find the back of the net. The Warriors masterfully avoided an offside trap set up by Menlo in the box, as
Aaliyah Grigsby found Stralen for the go-ahead goal.
Menlo would even the match in the 38th minute with Kori-Ann Koverman's third goal of the season. Koverman would score her second goal of the match in the 65th minute. Menlo took the lead on Haley Dunham's 56th-minute strike.
Jessup would find the back of the net one more time before the end of the match, but time was not on their side as the tally came in the 90th minute. The Warriors would be awarded a penalty, and
Hannah Olariu stepped up to the dot to take the attempt, and she converted.
In goal for all 90 minutes on Saturday was
Mya Rodriguez. Rodriguez recorded three saves. Menlo outshot Jessup 15-11 in the match, with both teams registering six shots on goal.
The Warriors will be back home next week for the final homestand of the season. It starts with a match against OUAZ on Thursday, October 20. The Warriors will then host Arizona Christian on October 24 for Senior Day.
