ROCKLIN, Calif. – The final homestand of the season got underway Thursday afternoon, with the Warriors welcoming OUAZ to Warrior Field. It was a day the Warriors will hope to soon forget, as their counterparts took the match by a commanding score line of 7-1.
Jessup's lone goal of the match came with the Spirit ahead 5-0 in the 75th minute. The Warriors earned a corner kick, which
Kaylee Gillespie stepped up to take. Gillespie swung the ball into the box, finding
Hannah Olariu, who converted for her third goal of the season.
OUAZ's first goal came in the 30th minute, and they quickly doubled their lead with a goal two minutes later. Back-to-back OUAZ goals would occur again as they scored twice within 60 seconds in the final two minutes of the half.
The Spirit would add two more in the final ten minutes of the match, including one with less than 60 seconds to go.
Thursday's loss pushes the Warriors down to 0-4-1 within the conference.
Jessup will be back home on Saturday for the final home match of the season, Senior Day, against Arizona Christian. Fans are encouraged to show up early for the 10:30 AM kickoff as the Warriors will honor their graduating seniors before the match.
