Warriors Push the Win Streak to Three, Capping Off a Perfect Road Trip

Gonzalez led the match with 17 kills, adding 17 digs to her stat line; Jessup will host SDCC and Vanguard next weekend

SAN DIMAS, Calif. – The Warriors seem to have found their rhythm, entering Saturday on a two-match win streak. Taking on Life Pacific in Southern California, the Warriors turned in three great sets in a row to get the win and push their win streak to three.

Winning three in a row is obviously nice, but what makes it even sweeter is that the last two wins for Jessup came against teams that had previously taken down the Warriors on their home court in Rocklin.

"We've always known we could do that," said head coach Tiger Shelton on getting the wins back over Hope International and Life Pacific. "We know we can play with anybody in the league, and we did."

Jessup was sparked by Marina Gonzalez's match-high 17 kills, seven of which came in Saturday's final set. Gonzalez paired her attacking efforts with 17 digs on the defensive end.

Life Pacific jumped out to an early lead in this one, winning the first set 25-18. The Warriors never panicked, however, as they climbed back from a six-point deficit in the second set to knot things up at 21. Jessup closed out the set with an 11-2 run to win 25-22 and even the match at a set apiece.

The Warriors would carry that momentum into a 25-21 victory in the third, followed by a dominating 25-12 performance in the fourth to take the match.

Set four saw Jessup jump out to a 7-1 lead to start, and Jessup turned in an 8-2 at the end to put the final nail into a perfect road trip.

Now riding a three-match win streak, Shelton was asked after the match if he's found the perfect formula to continue ripping off wins. "I mean, the formula is always going to be the same, next woman up, you know. We saw contributions from everybody, and that's what keeps us going. It's a fact. We can bring someone in that keeps us going in the game."

Now sitting at .500 (5-5) within the GSAC, the Warriors are back in the postseason picture, sitting in sixth place within the GSAC. The top six teams will qualify for the 2022 GSAC Volleyball tournament in Surprise, AZ.

Jessup returns home next weekend to take on San Diego Christian and Vanguard, two schools the Warriors defeated to start the GSAC season last month.
