Shelton and Three Warriors Earn All-Conference Honors

Tiger Shelton wins his first GSAC Coach of the Year award; Jessup’s three All-GSAC athletes are the most in program history

ROCKLIN, Calif. – The Golden State Athletic Conference revealed the 2022 Volleyball All-Conference team this morning. After a record-breaking season, three Warriors have earned All-GSAC honors, and their coach is being honored as the conference's coach of the year.

"This is not lost on me," said head coach Tiger Shelton when he found out he was the 2022 GSAC Coach of the Year. "I feel like this award should really be given to the entire staff. This is indicative of the hard work my assistants have put in. But I am very excited and thankful for this."

Shelton guided the Warriors to a 12-6 record within the GSAC, including a 10-1 stretch to close out the regular season. Jessup's 12 GSAC wins finish as the most since the program joined the conference in 2014.

Joining Shelton on the All-GSAC list are Marina Gonzalez, Taylor MacCuish, and Madalyn Miller. Three All-GSAC selections in 2022 are the most in program history.

Gonzalez adds to her season honors as she was voted GSAC Attacker of the Week three times throughout the season. The fifth-year outside hitter finished second in the conference with 3.38 kills per set and was third with 301 kills. Gonzalez tied the Jessup record with 24 kills in a match on November 4.

MacCuish, a senior, earns her first All-GSAC selection a year after missing the 2021 season due to injury. MacCuish's .309 hitting percentage was near the top off the Warriors. She was also a staple at the net, recording 55 blocks this season, averaging 0.59 blocks per set.

Miller claims her first all-conference selection after 231 kills this season, 12th best in the conference. In 23 matches this season, Miller totaled double-digit kills 14 times. Her season high of 18 kills came on Senior Day in Jessup's reverse sweep of Westmont.

The Warriors enter the GSAC Tournament as the second seed, earning a first-round bye into the semifinals. Jessup will take on the winner of Vanguard/The Master's in the semifinals Friday night at 6 p.m. (PT).

All GSAC Tournament matches will be streamed live on the GSAC Sports Network. The GSAC Championship Game will take place on Saturday at 5 p.m. (PT).

The 2022 Golden State Athletic Conference Tournament takes place at OUAZ in Surprise, AZ.
