(4) Warriors Drop GSAC Game of the Week at (7) ACU

Storey-Way scores a game-high 21; Williams scores 17 second-half points to finish with 19

GLENDALE, Ariz. – With first place on the line and the GSAC watching, No. 4 Jessup visited Glendale for their second meeting with No. 7 Arizona Christian. Down some of their top talent, the Warriors could not keep up in this one, falling to ACU for the second time tonight by the final of 75-63.

The loss ends a five-game win streak for the Warriors and is just the third loss of the season for this Jessup squad. It's the second time the Firestorm have gotten the better of the Warriors, securing ACU a tiebreaker over Jessup for the top spot in the conference.

Moving into the starting lineup for this one was Tarren Storey-Way. Needing to pick up for the losses of other key pieces in the lineup, Storey-Way produced one of his best nights of the season, leading all players with 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting.

Also with a big night once again was point guard Cashemin Williams. After scoring just two first-half points, Williams turned it up in the final 20 minutes to finish with 19 and 4 assists.

ACU scored the first five points in this one and never trailed, as the Warriors got within as little as three midway through the first half. The halftime deficit sat at eight, as Williams scored his first bucket of the day off a layup with 27 seconds to go in the half.

The Firestorm pushed their lead to 11 early in the second half and eventually moved the advantage up to 15 with just five minutes to go. The Warriors got some big shots from Storey-Way and Tim Strijaous, but with each Jessup make, ACU was right there to counter.

Strijaous ended the night with 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting.

Jessup turned the ball over 15 times to the Firestorm's 16. ACU narrowly won the rebound battle 41-40. The biggest difference was shot selection and shooting percentage, as ACU shot 47-percent to Jessup's 34.

The Warriors will look to get back to their winning ways on Saturday as they visit OUAZ for the final road matchup of the regular season. Game time on Saturday is scheduled for noon.

Jessup will be back home on Horton Court next week for the final week of the regular season. The Master's University visits Warrior Arena on Thursday, and then the season wraps up on Saturday with Senior Day against Westmont College.
