WHITTIER, Calif. – From Northern California to Southern California, Jessup put in the miles over the last 24 hours as they visited Whittier College just one day after a match in Santa Cruz. The Warriors put up a great fight, producing their closest finish on the women's end.
The Jessup women' fought in every match Saturday, narrowly losing the match 4-3.
Doubles play saw
Aysha Hayes team up with
Sydney Page, and the duo fought for a win, taking their bout 8-4. In the other doubles competition,
Nicollet Alexander and
McKenzie Hawkins fell 8-3.
Hayes had a great day on the court, as she won her singles match in straight sets (6-1, 6-1). Also victorious in singles play was Hawkins, taking hers in straight sets as well (6-3, 6-4). Alexander won the first set of her match, but it ended up going to a tiebreaker that she would lose (6-4, 4-6, 1-6). Page lost in straight sets (5-7, 1-6).
Over to the men's match,
Sam Smith once again won his singles match. Smith took home his first victory of the season yesterday and battled today after losing the first set to take his match in a tiebreaker (6-7, 7-5, 10-4).
Smith teamed up with
Jordan Lenney in doubles play, falling 8-3.
Aidan Sauer teamed up with
Noah Moeckelmann, and the duo dropped their match 8-1.
The Jessup men will next take the courts on February 19 when they take on UC Davis on the road. The Jessup women will be home on February 18, hosting Stanislaus State at Lifetime Fitness in Roseville.
