Jessup Punches Their Ticket to Kansas City and the Sweet 16

Warriors advance to the second Sweet 16 in program history, where they will take on 2-seed Indiana Wesleyan

ROCKLIN, Calif. – The dance lives on for one more song as the Warriors have officially punched their ticket to Kansas City. In an epic battle between the Warriors and the Oregon Tech Hustlin' Owls, Jessup came out on top 93-89, advancing to the Sweet 16.

It's a historic night for the Warriors as they become the first team in program history to win two games in the NAIA National Tournament.

Head coach Lance Von Vogt expressed his excitement after the game, stating, "This team is extremely special. They care for each other at such a high level. They trust each other at such a high level that they're able to do things that most teams would never even dream of doing. The injuries that we've fought through, and the next-man-up attitude that they've displayed throughout the season and that trust is the reason that we're enjoying Opening Round championship and earned our way to Kansas City."

The sharpshooting of Jordan Adams led the way Saturday night as he connected on 7-of-11 from three, finishing with 25 points. Saturday finishes one point shy of Adams' career high.

Jessup came out hot from distance in this one, as they connected on a 3-pointer for four of their first five baskets from the field. But with each Jessup triple, Oregon Tech was right there to respond, dominating the paint in the early going.

Both sides traded one-point leads back-and-forth before the Warriors finally gained a two-score advantage, thanks to a three by Myles Corey. The five-point lead would prove to be the largest of the opening half, as at the break, the two sides sat tied at 45.

Jessup jumped out fast to start the second as they scored the first five points of the half. With 18:26 to go, Tim Strijaous drained a triple that put Jessup ahead by six. The Jessup lead touched as high as seven in the contest.

Oregon Tech would not go quietly into the night as they embarked on a 7-0 run late in the game to even things up at 85. But back came the Warriors, as threes from Tarren Storey-Way and Jordan Adams put Jessup up by four. Storey-Way iced the victory with a layup in the closing seconds after a Strijaous steal.

Von Vogt had great things to say about his opponent after the game, adding, "Oregon Tech played a fantastic game, and I thought that we had to play great in order to beat them. And it was a shame that either team lost."

Storey-Way and Williams each contributed 18 points in the win. Storey-Way led Jessup in the rebound column, finishing with eight. Williams dished out 7 assists.

Also finishing in double-digits were Strijaous and Corey, ending with 14 and 12, respectively.

The win moves the Warriors to 29-6 overall as they continue stacking on top of what has already become the winningest season in program history.

Jessup will now face 2-seed Indiana Wesleyan in the Sweet 16. The game has officially been scheduled for Thursday at 5 p.m. (PST).

"Indiana Wesleyan is one of the best programs in the country. And we played them way back in December. So we have an idea of who they are, but they've grown a lot since then. Just as we have, it's going to be a high-level basketball game in order to earn the way to the Elite Eight," concluded Von Vogt.

The Warriors have already squared up with Indiana Wesleyan, as the two sides met in Daytona Beach on December 18. Jessup came out on top in that matchup, 75-69.
