BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Warriors were back in action just 24 hours after opening their season in a four-set loss to Lewis-Clark. Friday was an exhibition contest, with Jessup making the trek to Bakersfield to square off with NCAA Division I foe, CSU Bakersfield.
In what proves to be a good test for the Warriors, taking on top competition, Jessup fell in three sets.
The match, an exhibition, will not count towards Jessup's 2022 overall record or statistics. The Warriors are scheduled to play their next official match on August 25 when they welcome Oregon Tech for day one of the three-day William Jessup Invitational.
Jessup was led in kills by
Sydney Hancock and
Marina Gonzalez, both finishing with five. Head coach
Tiger Shelton spoke about Gonzalez's leadership after Thursday's loss, noting that she will add a "sense of calm" to the Warriors when on the court. Gonzalez did not play against Lewis-Clark.
Madison Marlow and Gonzalez contributed a team-high five digs, with
Mallory Pazin offering seven assists.
