Warriors Show Resilience, Battling to Win Fourth-Straight

Jessup ended the game on a 13-3 run; The Warriors move into a tie with Hope International for third in the GSAC

COSTA MESA, Calif. – With three-straight wins in their back pocket, it's safe to say the Warriors are feeling good at this point in the season. Needing to keep winning to stay in the thick of things across the GSAC, Jessup got the battle they expected, as it took all 40 minutes to wrap up a 74-66 victory over Vanguard.

The win, now Jessup's fourth-straight, moves the Warriors to 8-5 within the GSAC. Results around the conference favored the Warriors, as they now move into a tie for third with Hope International.

Head coach Lance Von Vogt said after the game, "I really love what I saw from my guys today. The team, they played for one another. They played for the team."

The Warriors trailed at halftime of this one, 40-34, which was the norm throughout Saturday's battle. Vanguard led for 84 percent of the action, with their largest lead being 12 points midway through the first half.

Jessup never wavered, taking a one-point lead with 4:35 to go on Jayden DeJoseph's three. That lead never vanished as Jessup ended the night on a 13-3 run.

"We made some lineup adjustments to figure out what was going to work for us against Vanguard today," added Von Vogt. "We changed our game plan midstream through the first half. And then we went with a different lineup to start the second half, and everybody responded."

Von Vogt then added that this win helps with the overall plan of what Jessup hopes to do this season, "Both of our goals this season are to earn a bid to the GSAC Tournament and then to earn a bid to the national tournament. We needed to win this to stay in the hunt for the GSAC Tournament."

Myles Corey and Cashemin Williams led the scoring in this one with 18 points each. Aashay Verma and Xavier Lovelace also contributed double figures with ten each.

The Warriors now get some time to rest, as they will only play one game next week. Von Vogt added that the rest could help the team in two areas.

"We'll give them a chance to really focus on academics. We've been on the road a lot lately, so this will be a chance for them to focus on the academic side of the house and be strong there."

Jessup will take on Menlo College next Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
