Baseball Announces 2023 Schedule Ahead of January 27 Opening Day

The Warriors will look to return to the GSAC Championship Game in 2023; GSAC Baseball returns to a three-game series format

LINCOLN, Calif. – Coming off a magical run in the postseason, ending in the 11th inning of the GSAC Championship Game, head coach Trevor Paine and the Warriors have announced the schedule for 2023. Highlighted by a change in the conference format, the Warriors will look to claim championship gold for the first time since 2019.

Jessup comes into the year riding a streak of five consecutive winning seasons, dating back to the program's GSAC Championship winning campaign in 2018. The Warriors went 28-26 in 2022, claiming the sixth and final spot in the GSAC Tournament.

With that six-seed, Jessup made some noise as the last team in, eliminating The Master's, Vanguard, and Westmont before falling to Hope International in the championship round. The 2022 season was just the third time a GSAC Championship Game was held. All three have featured Jessup and Hope International.

Opening Day comes on January 27 when the Warriors welcome Antelope Valley for game one of a three-game series. A week later, Oregon Tech will make the trip to McBean Park as they play a four-game set featuring back-to-back days of doubleheaders. The final home series of a ten-game homestand comes February 10 – 11 when Bushnell visits for a three-game set.

The Warriors then wrap up the preseason at Simpson for one game on February 14.

GSAC baseball gets underway on February 17 when Jessup visits San Diego Christian. This will be the first time Jessup plays at SDCC since the 2019 season. The Hawks were without a home field the last two seasons.

The Warriors will make three more GSAC road trips this season as they visit Arizona Christian (March 3 – 4), Vanguard (March 24 – 25), and Westmont (March 31 – April 1).

Hope International will visit Lincoln in 2023. The Royals and Warriors will square off in a postseason rematch to kickstart the home slate of GSAC games on March 10. The series wraps up with a doubleheader the next day.

New to the conference schedule this season is a change in series lengths. In recent years the GSAC played four-game series, but a vote passed in the offseason to return to a three-game format. Teams can still elect to play a fourth game, but the fourth game will not count toward conference records.

Jessup will play a non-conference game against San Diego Christian (February 18), Hope International (March 11), Vanguard (March 25), and Westmont (April 1). All of these will be played as the second game of a doubleheader.

The Warriors will also play two non-conference games against Menlo, one in Atherton on February 21 and the other at McBean Park on April 4. The Oaks will play their GSAC games in Lincoln March 17 – 18.

Jessup has added three non-conference games to fill the gap around Easter break. On top of the April 4 game against Menlo, Hawaii Pacific and Simpson will also pay visits to McBean Park the same week. All three games will be 6 p.m. starts under the lights.

The regular season will end with a three-game set against The Master's, April 21 – 22. Jessup will then get two weeks off before the 2023 GSAC Baseball Tournament, May 1 – 4, at OC Great Park in Irvine.
