Warriors Finish Off Regular Season Sweep of ACU

Miller and Harris lead the offense with double-digit kills; Jessup returns to Surprise tomorrow for the first time since winning the GSAC Championship

GLENDALE, Ariz. – The Warriors are on the road this weekend, taking on the two Arizona schools of the GSAC as conference volleyball rolls on. First up was the Arizona Christian Firestorm, a team the Warriors beat in five sets on their home court to start the GSAC season.

When ACU came to Rocklin early in the year, it was almost a reverse sweep for the visiting side, but Jessup managed to claw back in set five to claim victory. No comeback by ACU was in the cards on Friday as the Warriors held on to win in four, 3-1.

The victory improves the Warriors to 9-5 overall on the season. Jessup moves to 5-3 in conference action.

The combination of Madalyn Miller and Paulina Harris sparked the Jessup offense on Friday. Miller led the way with 17 kills, doing so with a .343 hitting percentage. Harris was also efficient, finishing with 13 kills on a .550 showing.

Jessup produced a .284 attacking percentage as a team.

The Warriors jumped out to an early lead thanks to their 25-15 victory in the first, but ACU did not plan on being pushed over in this one. The home side climbed back to win set two in extra points, 27-25, equalizing the match at one.

But back came the Warriors, winning the third by a commanding score of 25-16. Set four would see a late run by the Firestorm, but Jessup was determined to avoid another five-set dual, claiming the match with their 25-22 victory.

Jessup totaled 71 points to ACU's 58 in the victory. The Warriors also bested the Firestorm in kills (55-49), blocks (9-3), and digs (70-65). The bulk of the blocks came from Jordyn MacCuish and Carolena Bogdanovich, who each totaled four assists.

Now, the Warriors will pay a visit to a place filled with fond memories, Faith Arena, on the campus of OUAZ. The last time the Warriors stepped on that court was their 3-0 sweep of Westmont in the 2022 GSAC Championship match.

Tomorrow's match with OUAZ is scheduled for 1 p.m.
