Another Sweep in Surprise Sends Jessup Home Happy

The Warriors go 2-0 on their Arizona road trip; Kenzie Carpenter totaled five of Jessup's 12 service aces

SURPRISE, Ariz. – When the Warriors last stepped foot on the floor of OUAZ's Faith Arena, it was with a trophy in hand, as the celebration was beginning following Jessup's sweep of Westmont in the 2022 GSAC Championship Match. While no trophy was on the line Saturday, in the Warriors' first appearance in Surprise since that memorable day, the ending was the same: a sweep for the Warriors.

Jessup leaves Arizona with two victories, as the road trip began on Friday with a 3-1 win over Arizona Christian in Glendale. Now 5-4 in the GSAC, the Warriors remain in the thick of things for a return trip to Arizona next month for the GSAC Tournament.

The Warriors were excellent from the service line in Saturday's sweep. Jessup racked up a dozen aces, five coming from setter Kenzie Carpenter. Carpenter's 20 aces are the third most on the Warriors this season.

It was all systems go for a Jessup rout from the jump, as the Warriors kicked off the match with an 8-3 lead in a set that eventually went in favor of the Warriors, 25-20. The five-point margin of victory was the slimmest of the day, as Jessup then proceeded to win the second set 25-19 before a dominating 25-14 victory in the third to claim the match.

Leading the offense was sophomore Paulina Harris, who followed up a strong outing in Glendale with a match-leading 11 kills on a .526 hitting percentage. Madalyn Miller closed behind her with nine kills. Sisters Jordyn MacCuish and Taylor MacCuish each added five kills.

Defensively, libero Lauren Toon racked up ten digs and an ace in the win. Emma Miller, who was added to the starting lineup, closed the day with eight digs.

The Warriors bested the Spirit in almost all categories, including points (55-34), kills (38-26), digs (48-36), and aces (12-4).

Now, the Warriors return home for two more conference matches next weekend. First up will be a night fans want to circle, as Hope International will come to town on Friday, October 13, for Dig Pink. Jessup will wear their pink uniforms as the evening will be centered around raising money for breast cancer research.

Fans can purchase tickets for Dig Pink HERE and use code PINK for 50% off general admission tickets.
