FULLERTON, Calif. – The reigning national champions of Jessup were in action on Friday night, taking on their toughest test of the season in the Cal Baptist Lancers. The Lancers, a reigning national champion in their own right, handed the Warriors their first loss of the season, 24-5.
Jessup entered the day 8-0 this season and winners of ten in a row.
The Lancers swept the first quarter, scoring all four points to take a 4-1 lead. Another four points came in the second quarter, but this time the Warriors were able to get a few points of their own as the game entered halftime with CBU leading 8-2.
Through three, the Lancers led the match 12-3.
The Warriors are taking part in the Royal Battle STUNT Tournament, hosted by Hope International University. The action features some of the top STUNT programs in the nation, all seeking a trip to the NAIA STUNT Nationals later this season.
The NAIA STUNT Nationals will be in Oklahoma City this season.
Tomorrow will be another big test for the Warriors as they will take on Vanguard for the second time this season. Jessup and Vanguard met in the national championship game last year, and the two squared off earlier this season inside Warrior Arena.
Following the national championship rematch, Jessup will take on Concordia-Irvine. All matches are taking place inside Darling Pavilion in Fullerton.
