FULLERTON, Calif. – The feeling Saturday morning was one the Warriors have not felt in almost a full calendar year. Jessup woke up on Saturday looking to bounce back, as on Friday, they suffered their first loss of the season. With two matches ahead of them, Jessup did just that as they move to 10-1.
 
Jessup took the mat twice on Saturday as they wrapped up the Royal Battle STUNT Tournament hosted by Hope International in Fullerton.
 
The day began with another highlight matchup, a rematch of the national championship game from a year ago as the Warriors squared off with the Vanguard Lions. It's becoming a trend for Jessup as they beat the Lions for a third straight time, this one by the final of 15-12.
 
Both sides split the first quarter, with the score being deadlocked at 2-2. Three straight ties to start the second moved the scoreline to 5-5, but the Warriors were able to score off of routine six to end the half, taking a 6-5 lead into the intermission.
 
Another split down the middle in the third sent things to the fourth, with Jessup leading 8-7.
 
Jessup scored seven times in the fourth quarter, countered by five from the Lions, as the Warriors held on to win this back-and-forth battle.
 
Next up was a matchup with Concordia-Irvine. Needing a win to secure a winning record in Fullerton, Jessup did just that as they took down CUI by the final of 18-15.
 
The Warriors have now won two in a row against Concordia after dropping three straight from 2021 – 2022. Jessup gained their first victory over CUI in April of 2022, a 13-9 win.
 
Jessup will be back in action next Saturday when they take on Saint Mary's College inside Warrior Arena. Tickets are on sale HERE.
