Tennis Exits Oakland with a Pair of 4-3 Wins

Women’s Tennis wins their third straight match; Men’s Tennis improves to 7-8, one game off .500

OAKLAND, Calif. – Jessup paid a visit to the Bay Area on Wednesday, adding one final chapter to the history books against Holy Names. With both the men's and women's teams in action, the Warriors swept the day, winning both contests by the final score of 4-3.

Wednesday will be the final meeting between Jessup and HNU, as it was announced earlier that Holy Names would be shutting down at the end of the spring semester. The history of HNU and Jessup is detailed, as the two were once rivals in the California Pacific Conference.

The day began with a 10 a.m. start, as it was the Jessup women who first took the court. The men's match then followed at 2 p.m.

HNU won the doubles point in the women's match, taking two of three. The lone victory came via default as a win goes credited to the duo of Stephanie Alsman and Grace Sepe. Jessup would take two of three in the men's match, with both victories coming 6-4.

Sam Smith and Austrebeto Carlon teamed up in the first position, winning their match. Roger Wen and Tanner Sitanggang were also victorious in doubles play.

Singles action saw the Jessup men pick up three more points, starting with Mihnea Secara, who was victorious in straight sets over Jamnes Hauck (6-2, 6-2). Isaac Graves and Sitanggang earned singles victories by default.

Jessup picked up victories out of their top two players in the women's contest, as Jessica Holbea and Aysha Hayes were victorious. Holbea battled to three sets (6-4, 5-7, 10-2) to earn her victory. Hayes won in straight sets (6-4, 6-3). Alsman and Sepe earned two more victories by default.

The Jessup men improve to 7-8 on the season, as two matches remain before the GSAC Tournament. Jessup's women's team has now won three straight, and they will look to make it four when they visit Stanislaus State tomorrow.
