ATHERTON, Calif. – The 2023 regular season ended on Friday as the Warriors visited Menlo College in Atherton. Friday's matches see Jessup come home with a split, but the season is not complete as the Warriors shift their focus to the conference tournament.
Friday's action began with the men's contest as Jessup took the court looking to wrap up their second season with a .500 record. Jessup did just that, taking down the Oaks 5-0.
The 2023 season was the second for Men's Tennis. Jessup ended the regular season in 2022 without a victory, entering the conference tournament at 0-12. The Warriors will now enter the conference tournament at 8-8 in their second season as a program.
Doubles action saw the Warriors take the point backed by a 6-3 victory from
Sam Smith and
Austrebeto Carlon. Both would also take their respective singles bouts, with Smith taking the match in straight sets. Carlon's match stretched past the second set as he bounced back from a first-set defeat (4-6, 6-0, 6-3).
Others earning singles victories included
Roger Wen (6-3, 7-5) and
Mihnea Secara (6-3, 5-7, 6-2).
The women's contest saw Jessup square off with a Menlo team who entered with a ranking of No. 22 in the country. The Oaks swept the match, winning 4-0.
Jessup ends the regular season in sixth place for Women's Tennis. In the men's standings, the Warriors sit in sixth as well through the end of the regular season. Westcliff won the regular season championship in both men's and women's tennis.
The 2023 GSAC Tournament gets underway on April 25 from Surprise, Ariz.
