ROCKLIN, Calif. – It's Senior Night inside Warrior Arena, and in front of a packed house, Jessup welcomed the UC Davis Aggies to Warrior Arena. In one final tune-up before NAIA STUNT Nationals, Jessup pitched a shutout, taking down UC Davis 24-0.
Now 15-1, Jessup ends the regular season with the best record in the NAIA.
Jessup honored four seniors on Friday, competing for the final time inside Warrior Arena. Those seniors were
Mackenzie Garman,
Emily Rippey,
Grace Martinelli, and
Emily Cowles.
The Warriors opened up the night by scoring off routine four, and they followed it with points on routines two, five, and one. Jessup opened the second quarter again by scoring, adding three more points to take an 8-0 lead into halftime.
A point-off routine two started the second half, followed by an additional point to force the Aggies to call a timeout. The Warriors capped off the quarter by scoring on routines one and seven, giving them a perfect 12-0 score through three quarters.
Onto the fourth quarter, and to keep a perfect score alive, Jessup would need to put up 12 in the frame.
The Warriors started on the right foot, sweeping routine one, followed by a sweep of routine five. The trend continued as Jessup swept the board, winning by a perfect score of 24-0.
Friday's contest is the first time in program history that Jessup finished with a perfect shutout.
Next up for the Warriors is a repeat trip to nationals, as Jessup will be traveling to Oklahoma City in two weeks. Who the Warriors will take on is to be determined, as they will enter with a first-round bye as the number one seed.
The latest NAIA poll has Missouri Baptist University and Central Methodist in the fifth and sixth spots.
