ROCKLIN, Calif. – The wait for the Warriors to play on Horton Court will have to be a little longer, as Saturday's match against Stanton University has been canceled. The Warriors will now hold their home opener on Tuesday against UC Merced.
Confirmation of the cancelation came earlier this week as Stanton University announced that they would be unable to field a volleyball team in 2023. The match was set to be the first meeting between Jessup and Stanton in any sport.
The Warriors are coming off a trip to Honolulu, where they went 2-1, picking up victories over Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) and Bryan (Tenn.). Jessup, who sits 3-2 on the season, has yet to play an official match in the state of California this season.
All fans who purchased tickets for Saturday can expect a refund within the next 5-7 days. Jessup Athletics is working with our ticketing partner, Hometown Ticketing, to ensure all of our fans are taken care of.
Now, the Warriors will shift their focus to a Tuesday match against UC Merced. That match is scheduled for 4 p.m. On top of it being Jessup's first match at home, it will also be the final match before the GSAC season begins on September 8.
Jessup will open the GSAC season against OUAZ and Arizona Christian over the weekend of September 8 and 9. Tickets for all remaining matches can be purchased
