Scoring Barrage Lifts Jessup to a 6-0 Victory over Lincoln

Gillespie moves one goal off the program’s all-time record following her hat trick; Jessup records a shutout for the second match in a row

ROCKLIN, Calif. – Offense was on display Friday as the Warriors welcomed the Oaklanders of Lincoln University. On a day where the scoring opportunities came in abundance, Jessup padded the goal column late as they pitched a shutout, winning 6-0.

Friday's victory is Jessup's second in a row and improves their record to 3-4-1 on the season. The Warriors took down Academy of Art on Wednesday, a 3-0 victory, giving the Warriors two shutouts on the week.

The offensive expertise of Kaylee Gillespie was on full display in Friday's win. After a two-goal performance on Wednesday, Gillespie one-upped herself on Friday with a hat trick. Her first goal of the day came in the 17th minute, and it wouldn't be until the 84th minute until she scored again. The final tally came in the 86th minute, a penalty that was saved but bounced back to Gillespie, gave the Warriors their sixth tally of the match.

Gillespie nets career goals 24, 25, and 26, moving her one shy of the program's all-time record. She sits on eight goals this season.

But it wasn't just Gillespie doing the scoring. Adelaide Mae Smith found the back of the net in the 33rd minute, coming off an assist from Kye Johnson, for her second goal of the season. Olivia Richbaw then found the back of the net in the 83rd minute for her first goal of the season.

Jessup fired off 26 shots in the victory, 17 coming on goal. The Oaklanders only recorded five shots, two on goal, with goalkeepers Lilliana Fenn and Madeline Jern each recording one save.

Next on the schedule for Jessup is a visit to Santa Cruz, as the Warriors will take on UC Santa Cruz on Wednesday, September 20. The match is scheduled for noon.

The Warriors will be back at home on Saturday, September 23, for the final non-conference matchup before the GSAC season begins. Jessup will host Bethesda at 3:30. Tickets are on sale HERE.
