SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Warriors hit the road for the first road trip of the GSAC season, visiting Southern California this weekend for two matches. The trip began with Jessup taking on the nation's No. 14 ranked team, Vanguard, as the Lions made quick work with a sweep.
Jessup was led by
Taylor MacCuish, who totaled 12 kills in the loss. MacCuish was the only Jessup player in double-figures offensively, as
Taylor Dilley finished behind her with a season-high eight kills.
Dilley also totaled a season-high 14 digs as the 2021 NAIA All-American continues to work her way back after missing the 2022 season with an injury.
Vanguard totaled 54 points to Jessup's 38 in Friday's match. The Lions bested the Warriors in kills (42-31), assists (40-31), and digs (46-30).
Vanguard, who moved up in the NAIA Coaches' Poll this week, are now winners of 11 matches in a row. The Lions exit the win with a record of 13-1, 3-0 in GSAC play. The Warriors fall to 6-3 on the season, while their GSAC record drops to 2-1.
The Lions made quick work in the opening set, winning 25-15, which they promptly followed that up with a 25-11 win in the second. Jessup showed some grit in the third, but a late run by the Lions sealed the victory, 25-20.
Jessup will continue their road trip tomorrow when they visit Hope International in Fullerton. The Warriors will then get most of next week off before visiting Menlo on Saturday.
The Warriors will be back in Warrior Arena on September 29 when they host Life Pacific. Tickets are on sale
