Jessup Leaves Southern California with a 3-1 Victory

Toon led the match with 22 digs, paired with a career-high 19 assists; Miller returns to action with a match high 14 kills

FULLERTON, Calif. – Jessup was back in action on Saturday, visiting Fullerton for a matchup with Hope International. One day removed from their first GSAC loss of the season, the Warriors got back to their winning ways as they head home following a 3-1 victory.

A friendly face was back in the lineup on Saturday as outside hitter Madalyn Miller returned after missing Friday's match against Vanguard. Miller did not miss a beat as she led all players with 14 kills, adding two block assists as well.

Taylor MacCuish also closed the match in double-figures offensively, totaling ten kills in the win.

Jessup made quick business of the Royals early on, claiming the first set 25-13. The lead was much narrower midway through the set, with the Warriors leading 15-11, but a 10-1 run for Jessup wrapped up an opening set victory in style.

Set two was much of the same, as this time, it was an 11-3 run for the Warriors to wrap up a 25-12 win in the second.

But after two quick wins, the Royals bounced back as they negated a Jessup sweep by winning the third set, 25-21. It would be another battle in the fourth, but another late Jessup run (7-2) sealed the deal as the Warriors claimed a 25-21 victory.

The Warriors saw two players end the match with over 20 digs as Lauren Toon (22) and Eliana Sheridan (20) came up big defensively. Toon also did her part to set up the offense as she totaled a career-high 19 assists.

Jessup improves to 7-3 with the victory. Their record in conference action improves to 3-1.

The Warriors now get a week off before returning to action. Next on the schedule is a trip to the Bay Area as the Warriors will take on Menlo College on September 23.
