ROCKLIN, Calif - The Warriors didn't miss a beat from yesterday's victories and tackled two more wins today. The Warriors beat the receiving votes Oregon Tech 14-9 in game one and 9-6 in game two.
The doubleheader wins put Jessup at a 4-0 start on the season.
The bats came alive today as the Warriors tallied 27 hits on the day. Head coach
Trevor Paine talked highly of his team's offense on the day. "Really proud of how the boys competed today. We responded to adversity and battled through a tough opponent. The offense all weekend was really explosive and set the tone for the rest of the team. We need to address the areas we weren't good in and get better this week."
The Owls of Oregon Tech got a hot start, scoring four runs in the first inning off of starter
Max Moreno.
Jason Riviello came out of the bullpen early in the first inning with bases loaded and zero outs. That was no problem for the sophomore pitcher as he stranded the Owls with no more damage done.
Quinton Hall led off the Warriors with a solo home run and set the tone for the rest of the game. The Warriors came to life in the fourth inning with big at-bats from multiple Warriors down the lineup.
Trey Furrey continued his hot streak, alongside hits from
Kayde Iranon,
Connor Culp, and
Chris Lopez, who continued to have good production with the bat the rest of the day.
Trevor Arnsten would get the start in game two and proceeded with 4.2 innings before looking to the bullpen.
Kevin Gutierrez would get the win, and
Xavier Maldonado would get the save.
The bullpen has proved to be a strong suit for the Warriors thus far and is a huge positive moving forward. "We were especially good out of the bullpen today, and that's very encouraging moving forward," said head coach
Trevor Paine on bullpen success this weekend.
The pitching and offense moved soundly and secured a Warrior victory in comeback fashion in the bottom of the sixth.
Down 6-5, Jessup hit back-to-back explosive home runs from
Chris Lopez to tie and
Brandon Springer to win. The Warriors would talley on a few more runs later in the inning to come out on top with a final score of 9-6.
The Warriors will return to McBean for another home series against Bushnell University next weekend on February 2nd, with the first pitch set for 11:00 AM.
