HILO, Hawaii – In the finale of a three-match trip to Hawaii, Jessup came up on the losing end of a 3-0 final against the Vulcans of Hawaii Hilo. The Warriors now return to Rocklin where they await Westmont on October 19 for their much-anticipated home return.
The Warriors leave the islands having home 1-2-0 during their stay. Two of the matches took place on the island of Oahu, with Saturday's battle moving to the Big Island.
Hilo struck first 12 minutes into the contest when Teani Arakawa connected on her seventh goal of the season. She wasted little time in adding goal number eight, as that came in the 32nd minute of the match to make it a 2-0 Vulcan advantage.
The Vulcans tacked on their third goal six minutes into the second half off the foot of Filippa Graneld.
Head coach
Amsalu Fantahun turned to goalkeeper
Lille Aimes for the second match in a row. After picking up her first collegiate victory and shutout during the win against Hawaii Pacific, Aimes followed it up with a career-high 12 saves on Saturday.
On the offensive end, Jessup got off just one shot of their own as they were stymied by the Vulcan defense. That attempt, a shot on goal, came from
Mikaela Patterson.
Now bound for the mainland, the Warriors will take six days off before Westmont comes to town. That match is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. start.
