ROCKLIN, Calif. – The Warriors came just moments away from their second home win of the season as they led 1-0 for nearly all of the second half, but the visiting Menlo College Oaks were able to equalize in the 88th minute to secure a 1-1 draw.
Kawai Acopan found Olivia Parlto who put it in the back of the net. It was a corner kick for the Oaks, as Acopan's ball into the box connected the head of Parlto for the equalizer.
The Oaks were threatening in their attack all game and finished with ten shots and six on goal. Haley Dunham had two shots on target, while Parlato, Brynn McClymond, Verenia Gonzalez, and Kiran Pooni also put shots on frame.
Jessup totaled four shots on goal, one each from
Mikaela Patterson,
Samantha Selch,
Kylie Gutierrez, and
Mackenzie Wright, who scored in the 43rd minute from a
Galaxy Mijares cross.
Mijares pushed the ball down the sideline before playing a ball to the far post. Wright then hit the ball in on her first touch, giving Jessup the lead just before intermission.
Jessup junior goalkeeper
Celeste Fernandez made five saves in the match compared to Menlo's Giorgia Melcore, who totaled three. The game was very clean, with limited fouls or stoppages. The only caution came in the 89th minute as Patterson was handed a yellow card.
The draw is the second for Jessup this week, as they secured a 0-0 result against UC Santa Cruz on Monday.
The Warriors will now travel to Hawaii for a three-game road trip to face Chaminade, Hawaii Pacific, and the University of Hawaii at Hilo. Jessup returns home on Oct. 19 to play Westmont at 1:30 p.m.
