ROCKLIN, Calif. – The second of back-to-back matches against the PacWest's Hawaiian schools was on the slate for Saturday, as Jessup welcomed the Vulcans of Hawaii Hilo. Similar to their meeting with Chaminade on Thursday, the Warriors fell victim to a sweep, as Hilo won the match 3-0.
Jessup is now 1-4 in their first season competing in the PacWest. Overall, the Warriors sit at 5-7.
Eliana Sheridan led the match with ten kills, adding six digs to her outing.
Madalyn Miller added six kills, with
Taylor MacCuish finishing with four.
Hilo opened up to a quick 25-18 victory, giving them a 1-0 lead in the match. They kept the pressure on Jessup in the second set by opening to a 10-5 lead, but a 7-1 run from the Warriors gave Jessup the lead at 12-11.
Jessup added another 7-1 run late in the set, this one to put them ahead 20-18, but a 7-1 run for the Vulcans this time was enough to end the set and claim a 25-21 victory.
Set three was again a close battle, but once again, the Vulcans finished strong, scoring three of four to take the finale 25-23.
The Vulcans improve to 5-1 in PacWest action with the victory.
Jessup is three matches into a five-match homestand, which came after nine straight on the road to open the season.
