Warriors Battle to Senior Day Draw with Concordia

Morfin and Nunez score goals on their Senior Day; Jessup will end the season against Azusa Pacific on Thursday

ROCKLIN, Calif. – On a day when a full lineup of Warriors was honored, a game was to be played against the Golden Eagles of Concordia. With emotions high on an overcast Senior Day Saturday, the Warriors walked away with a 2-2 draw.

Jessup is now 3-5-2 in their inaugural PacWest season, the same record their counterparts from Concordia sit at entering the final week of the season.

"This is one we wanted," said head coach Greg Lazaga. "That was a tough one to tie on Senior Day, especially when we felt like we should have come out with a few more goals and a win. But I am really proud of all our seniors. They are special young men that have put in a lot of work."

The day began, like all Senior Days before, with a ceremony to honor those who will be departing the Warriors at the end of the season. Ten seniors were part of the 2024 festivities, and two went on to net goals on their big day.

Jessup's first goal came off the foot of Isaac Morfin as he finished off a ball from Jalen Scott 32 minutes into the contest. It was Morfin's third goal of the season and the third assist for the freshman Scott.

The second of two Senior Day goals came from Diego Nunez, as his 77th-minute tally put the Warriors on top, 2-1. Nunez now has three goals on the year, all coming in consecutive home matches.

Jessup's 2-1 lead was short-lived, however, as Miguel Arroyo of the Golden Eagles squared the match three minutes after Nunez's go-ahead strike.

The Warriors turned to Antonio Camacho to make the start on his Senior Day. Camacho, who is wrapping up his third year with the club, totaled five saves in the draw.

One match remains in the Warriors' debut NCAA Division II campaign, and it will be on November 7 when they host Azusa Pacific. Kick-off is now slated for noon, as the two sides agreed to move up the match to avoid sunset during the women's match.
