Warriors Battle to the Wire with No. 7 Chaminade

Jessup’s five-match win streak meets its end; The Warriors wrap up their Hawaii trip against HPU tomorrow night

HONOLULU, Hawaii – On another late night for fans watching on the mainland, Jessup got off to a fast start but, in the end, fell at the hands of No. 7 Chaminade. The 3-1 defeat ends Jessup's five-match win streak and sends them into the finale of their Hawaiian road trip.

The Warriors are now back to .500 in PacWest action, as the loss drops them to 6-6 in their debut season.

Outside hitters Eliana Sheridan and Madalyn Miller led the Jessup attack on Friday as both contributed ten kills. Sheridan also added nine digs, one shy of extending her double-double streak. Miller had one dig and one block assist.

Taylor MacCuish (8 kills, 8 digs) and Paulina Harris (7 kills, 4 digs) were next up in the Jessup attack. Neena Dimas led defensively with 16 digs.

Chaminade, who came into the night ranked No. 7 nationally, swept the Warriors earlier this year in their trip to Warrior Arena. The Warriors quickly negated any chance of a second sweep on Friday as a fast start saw Jessup snag the opening set, 25-18.

Jessup kept within the match after that opening set win, but Chaminade was also to resettle and win the next two sets by an average margin of four points (25-20, 25-22). The fourth set would see the host, Silverswords, claim a 25-16 decision to bring an end to the contest.

With the win, Chaminade continues to hold first place in the PacWest, as they are in a battle with No. 15 Point Loma for the regular season title. The two teams will meet for their only matchup of the season later this month.

The Warriors will return to action tomorrow night as they are scheduled to visit Hawaii Pacific. That will bring to an end Jessup's trip to Hawaii, along with the six-match road trip the Warriors are on. Jessup will return to Warrior Arena on Nov. 9 against Academy of Art.
