HONOLULU, Hawaii – On the last night of competition in Hawaii, Jessup pieced together their best performance of the week as they swept the Sharks of Hawaii Pacific. The win sends Jessup back to the mainland, where they will focus their attention on the final seven contests of the regular season.
Jessup, who are led in their first year by head coach
Kyle Steele, is now back over .500 in conference action, as they sit at 7-6.
The Warriors played three times this week in the Aloha State, starting with a visit to Hilo and then the final two resting on the shores of Oahu. Jessup beat Hawaii Hilo in five sets to start the trip, and after taking the first set against No. 7 Chaminade last night, the Silverswords regrouped to win the bout 3-1.
HPU battled in the first set, as the Warriors narrowly won, 25-22. From there on out, it was all Jessup, as a 25-14 finish in the second set was followed up by a 25-19 decision in the third.
Jessup hit .237 in Saturday's victory, totaling 46 kills to 29 from the Sharks. HPU pieced together a .113 hitting performance. The Warriors also led the match in digs with 53 to 45 from HPU.
Junior
Paulina Harris was the lone Jessup player to finish the match in double-figures on the attack. Harris totaled ten kills while hitting .750 on the night. She also added a pair of block assists.
Madalyn Miller wrapped up the week with nine kills, and
Eliana Sheridan finished with eight.
Setter
Kenzie Carpenter set up the attack with a team-leading 27 assists, while Oahu native
Alexis Kepa finished with ten, adding ten digs to her performance as well.
Neena Dimas once again led the way with 14 digs.
The schedule now shifts back to the mainland, as the Warriors have seven matches remaining in their inaugural NCAA Division II campaign. Five of those bouts will take place inside Warrior Arena, beginning on November 9 when Academy of Art comes to town. Jessup swept the Urban Knights in their meeting last month in San Francisco.
Jessup will also host Menlo during the homestand before hitting the road for their final road trip of the season. The schedule then concludes with three matches at home, wrapping up with Senior Day on November 23.
