ROCKLIN, Calif. – The Warriors welcomed the Menlo Oaks to Rocklin on Saturday as Jessup hosted Senior Night in front of a packed crowd. Hoping to give their three seniors a proper sendoff, Jessup could not respond to a late Menlo run as the Oaks took the game, 75-61.
The loss drops Jessup to 16-9 overall and 7-5 in conference action.
Jessup is now tied for fourth with OUAZ at 7-5 in conference play. The Warriors and Spirit split their regular season series. Menlo holds the sixth and final spot in the conference tournament with their 6-6 record.
The Warriors honored three seniors in a pregame ceremony as
Ty Artis,
Myles Corey, and
Xavier Lovelace played their final regular season game on Horton Court. The trio combined for 39 points.
Corey led the way, scoring 19 in his final regular season appearance in front of the Rocklin fans. Over Corey's four years in Rocklin, his career has seen him score more points than any player to wear the Jessup uniform. He added six boards to go with his scoring.
Artis dropped 11 to wrap up his third home season with the Warriors.
Menlo was led by Braydon Iuli, who scored 16 points on 9-of-18 from the floor. The Oaks shot 49 percent as a team and knocked down ten triples, four coming from Kaito Williams in his 22 minutes off the bench.
Jessup trailed by three at the break, but the second half would be all Menlo as they outscored the Warriors by 11 points.
Now, the Warriors will look to regroup and continue with the fight to move up in the GSAC standings as Jessup hits the road next week for two more games to wrap up the regular season. The road trip starts with a trip to The Master's and ends with a visit to Life Pacific.
Jessup owns regular-season victories over both programs from their visit to Rocklin earlier this year.
