Jessup Bats Lift the Warriors to 4-1 on the Weekend

Jessup goes 4-1 on the weekend in Georgia; Fanning goes 3-4 with three doubles on the day

COLUMBUS, Georgia - In a Sunday matinee matchup, Jessup continued their hot streak as they defeated the University of Cumberland, ranked #3 in the country.

Coach Brie Campbell had some positive statements about her team on the weekend in Georgia, "Today was the perfect ending to a competitive weekend and significant momentum to continue to carry us through the season ahead. We attacked early after a quick turnaround from last night's game, but the perseverance to continue to add runs when they answered back proves this team's never-enough mentality."

Three of the five teams Jessup faced this weekend in the Peach State were top-ranked in the country. This victory pushed the Warriors to 4-1 on the weekend and 10-2 overall.

A cold and early Sunday morning called for go time as the Warriors laced up to take on the Patriots in their last and final game of the weekend. The Warriors came out on top 7-4.

The bats lifted Jessup to yet another victory as they put up three runs in the first inning. Samantha Lorge (1) and Kaitlyn Fanning (2) scratched the first runs to put the Warriors on the board 3-0.

The fierce offense continued throughout the day, with 5 Warriors hitting .500, including Samantha Lorge, Sarah Giles, Kaylee Winn, and Emma Gayton. Kaitlyn Fanning went 3-4 on the day with three doubles.

Katie Bankenheim and Bella MacFarlane had a combined seven strikeouts on the day. Blankenheim threw 2.0 innings, and MacFarlane tossed 5.0 innings. An overall fluid day offensively, defensively, and in the circle, they lifted the Warriors to a 7-4 victory.

Jessup has played five ranked teams so far this season and has beaten three of the five. "We played some great teams this weekend, and we are excited to work hard to find our way back to Georgia as the season progresses," Coach Campbell said.

Jessup looks forward to continuing their hefty competitive-filled schedule as they return home to take on Simpson University, College of Idaho, which sits at #13, and Oregon Tech, which is currently ranked #1 in the country.
