Coach Campbell Secures 100th Career Win in Walk-Off Fashion

Coach Campbell tallies 100th win of her head coach career; Ybarra hits walk-off homerun to force a fifth consecutive win

ROCKLIN, Calif. - The demanding competitive schedule for the Warriors continued in weekday matchups between the Red Hawks of Simpson University and the Owls of Oregon Tech. Head Coach Brie Campbell celebrated her 100th career win as head coach with two wins on the day in comeback and walk-off formation.

The two wins bump the Warriors to a respectable 12-2 overall record.

The day began with the sunrise for the Warriors, with a 9:00 AM first pitch against Oregon Tech, currently ranked #1 in the country. Katie Blankenheim continued to dominate the circle, tossing a complete game to lead Jessup to a 3-2 victory. A double from Sam Lorge in the bottom of the sixth would secure the comeback to force the lead and solidify the win.

Jessup has now played and defeated the #1, #2, and #3 top-ranked teams in the country, among other top-ranked teams, throughout the pre-season. "To be the best, we play the best, and we know today was another team that's been a national contender for as many years as I've been coaching," said head coach Brie Campbell on the continued success.

The winning didn't stop there as Jessup cleated up to take on Simpson University on a doubleheader day. An exciting finish of the day came from Maddy Ybarra as she wrote it in the books at the bottom of the seventh inning with a two-run walk-off home run.

"Never. Count. Us. Out. I say it every time, and I mean it: we are never out of a game until the last out is recorded. Today, Maddy again proved she is onto the next at-bat, and that last at-bat of the day was her opportunity to carry the team to a win," continued Campbell.

The two wins on the day brought more than just a higher win record but a meaningful day for Coach Campbell and all those who have been a part of her head coach journey thus far. In her fifth year of coaching, the celebration was shared with players who have been with Campbell since day one at Jessup and all those who continue to carry this program to the success it has proved today.

The players who have been with Campbell from the beginning and are still a part of the program today include Katie Blankenheim, Terra Goetz, and now Assistant Coach Kayla Altheide

Campbell would like to thank and acknowledge all who have been alongside her through this journey, including players, coaches, parents, friends, and family. "1 win or 100 wins, this is for every one of those players that took a chance and said, yes, Jessup is where I want to be and trusted us to carry them through despite the ups and downs in the road; thank you."

The Warriors have a quick turnaround as they play College of Idaho (#13) and Oregon Tech (#1) tomorrow at Whitney High School at 11:30 AM and 2:00 PM.
