Softball Sweeps Future PacWest Foes in Midweek Matchup

The Warriors swept future foes of Academy of the Arts in a non-conference home series; Softball Senior Day will be held at Foskett Regional Park this Saturday to conclude GSAC conference play.

LINCOLN, Calif. - The Warriors got a slight hint into next year's PacWest conference as they took on the Academy of the Arts on a Wednesday afternoon. Jessup swept the day and moved to a 20-2 home record and 33-7 overall.

The recently ranked No.7 Warriors tallied two more wins toward their overall record. Katie Blankenheim and Serena Navarrete dominated the circle today for the Warriors. Blankenheim, with game one, only allowed three hits and one run in seven innings pitched.

Big hits from Olivia Dominguez and a sacrifice fly from Aaliyah Pineda would score the first three runs for the Warriors. Madisyn Leffle would score on a wild pitch in the fifth inning to total the runs at four for the Warriors where they would win, 4-1.

Navarrete would tally the game-two win, pitching 5.1 innings, allowing five hits, one BB, and two strikeouts. Reliever Terra Goetz only allowed one hit with three strikeouts to shut down the Knights in a 9-2 win.

Sarah Giles started the offense with a big hit, her sixteenth home run of the season. Giles, who is hitting .564 on the season, had four RBIs on the day. Kaitlyn Fannings continued the scoring for Jessup with a two-run single to further the Warriors' lead. Maddy Ybarra went 3-3 with two RBIs.

The Warriors will conclude their regular season this Saturday as they take on the Oaks of Menlo College at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM. Saturday will be Senior Day, as eight Warriors will be honored.
