Softball Ends Senior Day Clinching as GSAC Regular Season Champions

Jessup clinched the GSAC regular season with a sweep of Menlo College. Eight Warriors were honored on Senior Day before heading to the GSAC Tournament next week.

LINCOLN, Calif. - Friends and family packed Foskett Regional Park as eight Warriors were honored and celebrated on Senior Day. The Saturday matchup ended with a sweep against Menlo College to be named champions of the GSAC Regular Season before heading to the GSAC Tournament next week.

The eight seniors celebrated today included Kaitlyn Fanning, Bailey Reid, Lexi Watson, Serena Navarette, Kaylee Winn, Terra Goetz, Sam Lorge, and Katie Blankenheim

Goetz, Lorge, Winn, and Blankenheim were all a part of the first squad to win the GSAC Tournament in 2022 and take the Warriors to the Opening Round along with now assistant coach Kayla Altheide and still head coach Brie Campbell. Still, under the reins of Campbell, the Warriors look to have a repeat of the 2022 year come next week.

The day started and ended with a bang, as the offense sparked a five-inning win of 9-1 in game one. The Warriors had nine hits in game one, with Sarah Giles hitting her seventeenth home run of the season. Kaylee Winn, Lexi Watson, Sam Lorge, and Maddy Ybarra all had big hits to extend and secure the Warriors' lead.

Domination continued into game two, as the Warriors defeated the Oaks 8-1. Maddy Ybarra hit her thirteenth home run of the year. Winn (2-2) and Lorge (2-3) continued their big offensive outings into game two, alongside lights-out defense, to end the day with a sweep.

Senior pitchers Katie Blankenheim, Serena Navarette, and Terra Goetz continued their dominant outings in the circle to solidify the sweeping day.

The Warriors will travel to SoCal next week for the GSAC Tournament. Game one is scheduled for April 29th at 12:00 PM at OC Great Park.
